The surging Yangtze River, with its magnificent blue waves, has nurtured the time-honored Chinese civilization. On November 24th and 25th, the 2023 Yangtze Culture Forum with the theme of “Gathering for a Sustainable Future with Rivers” was hosted in Nanjing. On this occasion, Hohai University Press grandly launches the English version of Conservation and High-Quality Development of the Yangtze River 2021.

The series of books is a product of think tank rolled out by Yangtze Institute for Conservation and Development, and Jiangsu Research Base of Yangtze Institute for Conservation and High-Quality Development. Academician Zhang Jianyun and Academician Tang Hongwu of Chinese Academy of Engineering serve as the Editorial Committee Directors, Professor Zhang Bing and Professor Shi An’na as chief editors, Professor Zhang Hairong’s team from College of International Languages and Cultures of Hohai University as translators.

The series consists of seven volumes, which summarizes the new progress, new paths and new ideas of the conservation and high-quality development of the Yangtze River in multiple dimensions, providing scientific and technological support, as well as intellectual guarantee for the conservation of the Yangtze River and the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, contributing the intelligence and strength of Hohai University, therefore playing the song of the Yangtze River in the new era with the sound of wisdom.

Our Press has published Research Series of Conservation and Green Development of the Yangtze River 2019, Research Report on Conservation and High-Quality Development of the Yangtze River 2020, Conservation and High-Quality Development of the Yangtze River 2021. The series has won the Nomination Book Award of Chinese Government Award for Publishing, and has been selected by Jiangsu Province theme publication, Ministry of Education theme publication, theme publication of “paying tribute to a moderately prosperous society in all respects and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China”, and theme publication of “writing the chapter on the new era as a tribute to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China”. The Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, People’s Information and other media have made feature reports on the series, which has got good response.

The Yangtze River flows east into the sea, constantly writing stories about ecological construction, the blending of civilizations, innovation and development, creating a millennium context from mountains and rivers of Sichuan Province to canal towns in south of the Yangtze River, and laying the foundation for self-confidence and self-improvement of Chinese culture.
